ART TALKS / PERFORMANCE

“THE GAME AT HAND”
1:00 – 2:00 pm / Center Lounge F
Visitors are invited to play “The Game at Hand,” a hand-made chess set and a poignant commentary on US involvement in the Middle East. At a distance, this piece appears to be simply a beautifully hand-made chess set. Closer inspection, however, reveals the futility of this game. As viewers are encouraged to play, it becomes clear that this game cannot be conducted fairly even with conscientious intentions. This set has toured the nation and was featured at the US Chess Championships.

A public unveiling of a monumental work of art, entirely sculpted and painted by the artists hand without the artist having ever seen the completed work prior to exhibition. The “blind reverse, free hand sculpted and painted” process.

Artist Meet & Greet: Barry Ferich

Several of his pieces have been shown in local art museums including the Las Vegas Art Museum (1998) with a First Place and “Best of Show” Gallery Placement. Barry uses an eco-friendly approach with his artistic process. He uses discarded building and automotive materials to transform them into abstract, functional and non-functional pieces.
